Review by Norwich City fan Callum

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?

I thought that this was one of our best chances to get some points away from home this season, and it is always nice to tick another ground off the list.

How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?

I took the coach, which was pretty simple. Burnley is quite a small place compared to most Premier League teams, so there was less traffic getting in than normal. We were parked close to the ground when we got off, and then they bought the coaches round to just in front of our stand after the game which made it very simple to get back there. Traffic getting out was alright, took around half an hour to get moving properly though.

What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?

I got a pie and a tango in the ground. The pie was very good actually, probably the best so far this season and then the drink they poured out from the bottle into a plastic cup which was a bit of a pain on the terrace but I see why they do it.

What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?

The away end at Burnley was quite good I thought. It is behind the goal and there is a pillar which was a bit of a pain but it didn’t block it too much from where I was sitting and there weren’t any seats directly behind it. We were lucky because we were the first row in front of a barrier in a new block which meant there was no one that close in front of us so we got a good view. There was also a large tent near the concourse with more food and drink so there was lots of space, but only one toilet that I saw and it wasn’t that big so there was quite a queue after the game.

What was the atmosphere like during the match?

Away end was really good, think it helped that it is all over one level unlike some places so everyone is together. Ground wasn’t full, I am not sure how many were there but I would say it was around 80-85% full. Fans to our left were quite loud at times but not consistently, better home atmosphere than some grounds though. Very loud booing towards the ref at half time as they thought they should have had some penalties.

How friendly were the home fans out of 10?

8/10 – had a nice chat with a fan outside the ground who pointed out one of their players coming in in his fancy car.

How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?

Wasn’t as bad as some places, especially once the coach got away. Don’t think there was anywhere near as much traffic as other grounds and we got away quite quickly.

How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?

I think I spent about £80-£85, which is fair enough since Burnley is miles away from Norwich. I had a good day out so I think it was worth it.

Would you recommend this away day to other fans?

Definitely – the surrounding area near the ground isn’t amazing but once you get in there it is an alright little ground and an alright view. Really friendly fans and the stewards were all really really nice.

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?

We went to the game because my 10 year old son is a Palace fan, and my own team Partick Thistle didn’t have a game that day, and yes I was really looking forward to it.

How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?

We travelled by train from Glasgow to Preston, very easy, then Preston to Burnley Manchester Road, which was also very easy. However, it was only a 2 carriage train and it was jammed and was the same on the return from Burnley.

If you got the train, how easy did you find it to make your way to the stadium from the station?

It was very easy to get to the stadium from the train station, as it was just a 20 minute downhill walk.

Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?

We went to Burnley Cricket Club next to the stadium, which was a good mix of Burnley & Palace fans, young, old, & families, with a really good friendly atmosphere.

Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?

We just picked up something from Subway and Tesco.

What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?

There was a good variety of food and drink available inside the ground.

What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?

We sat in Row G behind the goal, which was a great view and was very close to the pitch. They were old wooden seats with plenty of leg room.

What was the atmosphere like during the match?

The atmosphere was amazing from the Palace fans & the Burnley fans in the same stand.

How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?

Very easy to get away from the stadium, but a bit of a hike back up the hill to the train station.

How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?

We spent £24 on train, £45 on match tickets and around £50/£60 on food & drink, it was a great day out for what was spent.

Would you recommend this away day to other fans?

Yes, definitely.

Is there anything else you want to tell us about your day?
